New FsAeroData service

As you may have noticed a new application has been recently proposed so as to update many components of the sim aeronautical database

This product replaces nearly all default files with updated data build from latest Jeppesen data
Consequently, know it will inactivate all updates I provide.
I had a look to the way FSAeroData works and the data it provides and I see some positive and negative points
On the positive side:
- Instrument approaches as well as SID and STARs and airways are accurately updated on a worldwide basis; note that SID and STARs can only be used on P3D using a specific GPS gauge
On the negative side:
- You'll have to pay both for getting the files from FsAeroData on a 3-month or yearly basis and also for a valid subscription to the Navigraph service; still understandable though considering the conversion work is done by the author and not by Navigraph
- There are some inaccuracies in the navigational data; those are not linked to any problem with Jeppesen service that is a very trustable source but probably to the way it is converted
In particular, and just to mention a few: navaid magnetic declinations are usually wrong (Jeppesen usually doesn't provide a very trustable value for VOR declinations as AIPs do), some VOR only are defined as VORDME, navaid operational ranges are not accurate (only based on navaid type not on AIPs data), DME parts of ILSs are included in the navigational files with unrealistic ranges (130 NM) and not in the airport ILS records
- Only ILSs frequencies are updated (so do not expect a fully realistic picture here, since for the majority of ILSs many other elements have changed); I'm also unsure that new, decommissioned ILSs or those whose identifiers have changed are properly defined as well as correct locations of antennas by reference to sim runway thresholds
- Navaid/ILS associated scenery objects are not updated as well as approach lighting systems and PAPIs
I didn't check yet some other changes FsAeroData introduces such as runway renumbering and intersections but it should be OK.
For sure this service will still improve in the future so as you could consider using it on a regular basis as far as it is really interesting for updating all approaches. In fact, if you know how to do, you can probably only use this part of the update, keeping the rest since new airport BGL files included in the package only contain approach data and delete old approaches
Feel free to share your experience here

I had the opportunity to investigate a bit more the changes made to airport (APX) files that concern runway and ILSs updates made by the software. Here are my observations by now (but situation may change in the future)
First know that FSAeroData will work on the current APX files of your sim (it doesn't fully replace them), after a backup is made
- Runway Id changes: YES
- Update of approaches: YES (done by additional airport BGL files, see above)
- Update of taxiway signs in case of rwy id change: NO
- Update of ILS names in case of rwy id change: NO
- Update of start positions in case of rwy id change: YES
- Removal of decommissioned ILS and addition of newly created ILSs: NO
- Update of ILS ICAO identifiers and frequencies: NO (at least not yet)
- Management of terminal NDBs included in airport records: NO
