Hello from Spain, first thing, thanksyou Herve Sors for your dedication to this world of flightsim. Two days ago I´m thinking about of this ILS APP, here is the reason: I use the charts of Skyvector and in the airport diagram of KRDD I can see the heading of rwy 34, 345,7 degrees (magnetic), I use P3D v4 with your updates (magdec,..), in the simulator and with your AIE I can check than the rwy heading is correct. The ILS is perfectly aligned with RWY. My problem is when I see at the 34 ILS chart the magnetic course, is 342 and there´s not information about ILS offset, what´s is your interpretation about this? Thanks in advance

Hello Enrique
Charted mag heading of ILS 34 at KRDD is indeed 342° True runway heading (at least in FSX but should be the same in P3D) is 0.1° (0.07). Real true heading is exactly the same Charted magvar for this airport and ILS is 18°E Considering magvar (as reported by the sim if you installed the new magvar file) is 14°E (real current value for 2018), it is normal you have a difference of 4° It just means ILS calibration (and related charts) have not yet been updated and I presume you will have exactly the same difference in real life! Nothing I can do about that if we want to keep it "as real as it is"

Thanks for your fast answer Herbé,
sure in real life the situation in KRDD is a ILS out of calibration. But, if you check the magvar for this airport in the chart of airport diagram (skyvector), you can see a magvar of 14.4 E(2015), rwy hdg mag of 346. In the simulator the rwy has the same heading (with your update of magdec) and the ILS 34 is perfect aligned with the rwy, the only diference when I fly this ILS is if I turn my CDI course to 342 o the rwy hdg 346, is the same because the alignment of the CDI doesn´t depend on the course, the CDI is only a orientation. In real life, if the ILS is out of calibration , sends a signal for the LOC 4 degrees out of the rwy centerline, begining at the end of the rwy? If it´s true, with your tools I think we can reproduce this. Perhaps I'm wrong in my considerations, in the simulator the magvar of ILS only affects to the number course in the MAP, is the same in real life?, or the LOC is really in angle with the rwy centerline?
Thanks for your time

Hi Enrique Airport magvar is indeed 14.4E >>In real life, if the ILS is out of calibration , sends a signal for the LOC 4 degrees out of the rwy centerline, begining at the end of the rwy? If it´s true, with your tools I think we can reproduce this<< Unsure we can do it. Sim ILS track is only defined as a TRUE value in the relevant files and ILS calibration (18E here) is not used at all except for map and gps displays. See here for more details aerosors.freeforums.net/thread/112/magnetic-variation-problems-airac-dataIf we artificially change ILS true value to adjust mag heading reading, it will not be aligned anymore with runway (this one is aligned without any offset) Regards Hervé

Thankyou Hervé, intresting things for navigation and learning about limitations of our simulators
