Hello,
I recently discovered this site while looking for ways to update the outdated FS9 navigation world, after returning to my simulator following some years of absence. Great stuff !! Thanks indeed for keeping FS9 (and FSX) alive for those of us that insist on running sims on 10+ year old platforms.
I downloaded and started using FS Control, and I find it particularly useful and a very nice and feature-loaded app. While it is running fine through FSUIPC on both FS9 and FSX (running on the same machine with the sim), when I tried to run it on a networked pc, it fails to connect to WideClient (using FSX and the latest registered version of FSUIPC/WideFS), giving the following error:
'No Com. Error communicating with FSUIPC or WideClient [Error cause: FSUIPC Read/Process error]'
I am pretty sure it does not have to do with the network configuration between FSUIPC (WideFS) and WideClient, as at the same moment that FS Control fails to connect, other apps manage to do so and get through to the sim, no problem.
I was wondering if anyone has encountered something like that in the past, although I did not manage to find anything similar posts in the forum. I would really like to be able to use it on a networked pc, because I run FSX full screen.
Thanks NikosK

Hello NikosK
I must say that although I implemented FSUIPC communication via WideClient in the software I designed (according to code provided by Pete), I never tested it due to my configuration (no networked pc) so it may well be a bug in the software. However, as far as I remember, I never had any comment regarding that so I expected it worked as it should. Unfortunately, I will not be able to debug it. May be some other users with a proper configuration will be able to provide their experience and comment.

Hello Hervé
A quick update, to get some feedback to you regarding this. I recently tried to use AFSD on a networked pc using WideClient (running FSX/FSUIPC on the other end) and it worked fine. Thought this information might be useful, in case you'd like to take a look at FS Control at some point. It goes without saying that I'd be happy to assist with testing.
Thanks again and all the best Nikos Kantas

Ok Nikos. Unfortunately I cannot provide any additional feedback on the subject. I understand it works with WideClient with AFSD but NOT with FSControl. Correct? In such a case I could have a look to it

Hello Hervé,
First of all, I 'd like to stress that, of course, nothing is (or may be) requested, required or expected, more than that which you are already providing generously to the community.
With that out of the way, yes, your understanding is correct. AFSD works fine with WideClient whereas FSControl doesn't. Assuming that WideClient implementation is common for both software, I thought that this info may be useful to you, in case you feel inclined to troubleshoot FSControl at some point in time (I guess, by comparing WideClient implementation in AFSD and FSControl?). Again, I simply wanted to pass some info back to you regarding functionality of these two programs with WideClient, since as you mentioned you cannot test this on your setup.
Thanks and kind regards Nikos Kantas

Ok..Possibly found where is the problem. Since I cannot test it, I will provide here in a couple of days a link for a beta of FSControl. If it is ok, I will upgrade the software

Hello Hervé, I am having problems downloading the file. The link appears to be pointing to a blank html page. If I try "save link as..", it saves as download.htm

Tried it. It works fine now also through WideClient. Tested with FSX Boxed SP2, FSUIPC 4.974, WideClient 7.156. Thanks
