Hi Herve hope you're well, I would like to edit some of my FSX airports runways with your great ILS editor and change Vasis to PAPI lights, but can't really work out the correct distance from threshold figure so it lines up with the ILS glideslope.
Just wondering how you do it?

There's several options depending on the available information 1) Some AIPs directly provide the distance information of such lighting aids from threshold 2) If you have Google Earth view of the airport and PAPI lights are clearly identifiable, it is easy to measure the distance from runway threshold and enter it in the ILS inspector "from TH" field 3) The same can be done from airport charts, although it could be a bit more imprecise 4) If you do not have any exploitable information and there is also an ILS on the same runway, you may use the glide transmitter distance from TH (from AIRAC ILS database -> Glide transmitter from runway threshold) 5) If none of these methods is applicable, use 950 ft for a 3° visual approach aid Hope it will help

Yep..but don't use it if 1-3 are available and you want to stick to real data. Very often Papi lights distance from TH is a bit greater (usually around 50-100 ft) as compared to glide transmitter FYI, I corrected all US and most European PAPIs according to real positions in my updates. Unfortunately I couldn't do that on a worlwide basis. Regards Hervé
