Hello!
Some time ago I have installed Navaids and Fixes updates on my former P3Dv4 simulator, but experienced that some points are missing. When I mean that points are missing I experienced that RNAV points for RNAV Arrival/Departure at different European countries are missing (tried in Central Europe but nowhere else as of now). These points are usualy used for non-convencional (RNAV) arrivals and also for non-convencional (RNAV) departures. The points represent the last two letters of the ICAO airport code and then three digits. So for LJLJ airport one of the RNAV fixes is LJ512. And those fixes are missing for me.
But recently I have upgraded my software to P3Dv5 and I have flown a bit around and found out that in Austria there are the RNAV fixes for default GPS. I was fully able to fly RNAV arrivals from point to point and I thought that all RNAV points are now included in the sim but next day when performing a flight from Slovenia to Croatia there were none of the RNAV points in the mentioned countries. Let me also say that I do not have any particular scenery installed with exception of LJLJ. But as I say no airport addon for and Croatia or Austria airport which could "generate me" those points. But Austria got points and Croatia not.
Have I missed something? Do I try to reinstall your addon for Navaids and Fixes for P3Dv5?
If anything of the mentioned does not work or you also do not have solution, is there possibility to add those points in future updates? And if even this is not possible, can I make my own .bgl file with an specified addon and include points to my default GPS?
Thanks in advance
Regards

Hey! sorry, but FMS and GPS approaches are not updated... you can try a paid upgrade package(it updates this but i dont know how accurate): www.fsaerodata.combut even in this case, you will not get realism, since the default GPS\NAV system is very limited, the correct(close to the truth) execution especially RNAV approaches is out of the question unless you are using large aircraft such as PMDG 737, Aerosoft A320 and great, which have a high-precision FMS with an external regularly updated nav base(and you will always have all the points and the all correct approaches), there is also external high-precision GPS for small aircraft: www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=f1gtn or reality-xp.com/flightsim/gns530/index.html

Hey niksan29!
I am not talking about FMS and GPS approaches, but about Arrival and Departure points. Please do not mistake approach with arrival. Arrival is the procedure which will get you to the first point where you will start your approach. And the problem here is that why some airports/countries have those points included while other airpots/countries don't. As said I can find any RNAV point for few Austrian airports while for Croatia I cant find it. Seems weird as somewhere points are included but somewhere not.
Yep you are right about external databases as they are connected to specific plane not the actual P3D base. I use Flight Sim Labs A320 and other planes, but from time to time I start my GA plane from Carenado or any other provider and I fly short IFR legs. And mostly nowadays there is no more non-RNAV planes (there are some but they are unable to fly at higher altitudes due to PBN restrictions). With default GPS I am only available to fly via the "enroute" points, but unable to fly RNAV arrivals or departures. That is why the first and last segment of every flight needs my own raw data IFR knowledge of aviation to fly the conventional departure/arrival before starting with enroute GPS flight or before initiating an approach. With those RNAV points I could simply reduce my workload and I would also be able to fly those RNAV procedures.
I am aware of GTN and GNS addons and they are quite good but I think the amount of flights that I perform with GA aircrafts is too low to afford that kind of stuff for 20 flights per year or even less.
Is there any possibility to make my own .bgl files to include that points for different airports and countries? I also remmember Airport Design Editor having "approach" function, is there possibility to make it happen there?
Kind regards

Hi Gal
Normally the World Navaids Package (only applicable to FSX up to P3Dv4) includes updated enroute and terminal navaids for the overall Europe region. Especially LJxxx are included and clearly appear on map view after installation. I presume the reason is that you didn't check the "Use alternate airport files" option on installer (and also didn't read the documentation (Chapter 4)..). In such a case, only enroute intersections and airways are updated.
"For the Europe region, at the exception of P3Dv5, an alternative set of airport BGL files is proposed. Its main advantage is that most terminal fixes will also be properly updated for the corresponding region giving a clean and up to date GPS and map displays. However, the following limitations will apply: all GPS approaches will be deactivated (anyway, note that most of them are outdated). Navaid and other updates will be identical to those implemented in the normal set"
At this time, I do not provide any updated fix data for P3DV5, may be in the future Making a bgl file is possible, using the adequate compiler, as far as you are at ease with XML coding (not so difficult for intersections, see the examples in the SDK) If I can be of any further help, feel free to email me

but about Arrival and Departure points. yes you are right, these are different stages, if call it right: STAR and SID, but this is not so important in this case. all this refers to the need to update the nav base, as I said above , the best option is to use an external regularly updated nav base for your navigation device, otherwise you may have all fixes\waypoints but no(or they will be obsolete) approaches, etc. in addition, as Herve noted above: at this moment for P5 these updates(fixes\waypoints) are not available(in the package he provides)... there are some but they are unable to fly at higher altitudes due to PBN restrictions PBN does not altitudes restrictions of the aircraft, it is the simply an area navigation concept based on the performance of navigation systems. With those RNAV points I could simply reduce my workload and I would also be able to fly those RNAV procedures and don't forget that you cannot fly RNAV manually especially when there are RNP requirements, the aircraft must follow the LNAV\VNAV profile(which naturally does not support default GPS) in full autopilot Is there any possibility to make my own .bgl files to include that points for different airports and countries? a good option (as far as it is applicable for default GPS) would be to use any external plan creator that also uses a regularly updated nav database (try this first: www.aero.sors.fr/designer_pilot_utilities2.html ), then you simply load this plan into your default GPS

Hi Harve!
Thanks for letting me know, I will again open up and check if there are the LJXXX points in P3Dv4 simulator, but as far as I remember I did a full instal together with my friend and we both did not get those points. Thanks again! If I am unable to get those points for P3Dv5 then I will wait a bit if you can provide them but otherwise I will make them by myself.
And niksan29 seems like we did not understand each other in the right way. But nevermind Harve explained everything.

If I am unable to get those points for P3Dv5 then I will wait a bit if you can provide them Either way, you can easily get them right now for your plan in the default GPS, simply by creating it in an external FP utility, for example: IFR Klagenfurt LOWK to Brnik LJLJ.pln (6.51 KB) And niksan29 seems like we did not understand each other in the right way. maybe this is so, but the main thing is that the problem is solved
