As you all know, TACAN navaids only (not VORTACs) only provide DME distance to civilian aircrafts that are not equipped with TACAN receivers. By now, that's the way they are defined in the updates I provide. There's about 380 TACANs worldwide. However, on military aircrafts such navaids provide both azimuth and distance (the equivalent of VORTACs). Consequently, the questions are: (a) should I change those navaids so as they also provide an azimuth information or not (b) should it be an option in the installer Seems some gauges on military aircrafts have the capability to change FS/P3D TACAN DME only navaids to true VORTACs. In such a case, there will be no need to provide specific files. However, I'm not familiar with those. May be some users are. Please feedback on this subject. I will act accordingly

Hello Hervé, The VRS F18, probably the most advanced fighter out there, does not convert it automatically. It only displays the distance for the tacans. I think it is the same for the metal2mesh mirage 2000. It would be great if you could convert them into VORDMEs By the way, does it work on P3Dv3? Thanks!

>>By the way, does it work on P3Dv3?<< Yes, since the very beginning (installer has been made compatible in v7.30)

Guys, next update will include optional "military" navaids files so as TACANs provide azimuth. It will be an option in the installer and will cover worldwide TACANs. Only for FSX/P3D by now. Hope all those performing mainly military operations will enjoy. For those only performing civilian flights, this option should be left disabled (default).

A Big Thank You for this new feature! :-)
I really appreciate the TACAN option since i don't have to download and install special TACAN packages for every country anymore.

Hi Herve.
I'm a new P3Dv4 user. Using TACAN on the VRS F-18 Superbug I get DME only, not azimut. I wonder why is TACAN capability created on P3Dv4 since is unable to provide azimut info, (as far as I know this is a P3D "native" feature). It's important to me using this feature for terminal navigation purposes. I used before FSX and it worked perfectly as VORDME or VORTAC-emulated station. In response to your question I would chose the option (b) (should it be an option in the installer). I will appreciate that.
Thank you and happy new year!
Antonio.

Thanks, Hervé. I'm passing the question to VRS forums.
Thank you.
